ANIMAL ACTIVISM
Dr Sing Kong Yuen,
BVMS (Glasgow), MRCVS
First written: Dec 6, 2009.
The making of a documentary on the
founder of Noah's Ark was held at
the 2009 AVA Responsible Pet
Ownership Roadshow at the
Anchorvale Community Centre on
Sunday, Nov 29, 2009.
I attended the roadshow as I was
invited by the AVA. I wanted to be
updated on animal activism in
Singapore and so I took some time
off from my Sunday surgery to
attend the show.
This year, the HDB (Housing &
Development Board) had taken part
in the roadshow. This was good as
80% of the population lives in
HDB. It is a pity that the SVA
(Singapore Veterinary Association)
does not participate.
2788 - 2789. Ms Lynda Goh of
Noah's Ark Cares works hard as a
volunteer for the welfare of the
homeless dogs
I was not keen to be interviewed
to talk about Mr Raymund Wee
although I knew him for over 30
years. Sometimes the media quotes
me out of context or distort the
interview and this is very common.
Therefore, I disappeared when Ms
Lynda Goh of Noah's Ark asked me.
Since she persisted for a second
time, I obliged. The movie maker,
Mr Julian Siau of Orbital Media
Productions agreed he would ask me
2 questions about Mr Wee to beef
up his content. "All the persons I
had interviewed knows Mr Wee for
around the last 2 years," he said
to me. I obliged Ms Lynda Goh who
is an excellent PR person and to
help the homeless animals in
Noah's Ark.
However, Mr Siau he did not keep
his word and asked too many
questions. I wonder how this
documentary would turn out.
It is hard to trust news makers as
they will write or make news from
clipped stories, sometimes out of
context.
